SEE US, HEAR US PHOTOVOICE PROJECT

We are pleased to announce that the Grade 5/6 class at Migizi Wazisin Elementary and the Communications class at Niimiki Migizi Secondary will be participating in a new community project beginning February 3, 2011.

See Us, Hear Us is a Photovoice project that will provides students with hands-on opportunities to learn and practice life skills that include art, photography, activism, writing, communication, and marketing.

What is Photovoice?

Photovoice blends photography and social activism. It puts cameras in the hands of community youth so they can share or express their community’s strengths, resources, problems, and potentials through images and stories. Photovoice is about giving young people, whose voices are often ignored, hands-on experience with making a difference in their community.

The Dilico Children’s Foundation supports the educational, recreational and cultural needs of Aboriginal children and families in north western Ontario. Our children and families face many social and economic challenges. The need for help is great, yet many services that are vital to the health and wellbeing of children and families are not funded by our governments. The Dilico Children’s Foundation can meet the changing needs of our families with support from donors like you—people who care about children who are often overlooked.

With your support we can continue to invest in our children, families and communities to ensure they advance in their education, health and wellbeing. Our vision is a future where all children have the opportunity to achieve their dreams and grow and develop into healthy community members.
